David Nevicato has been leading the development of the Danish offshore CO₂ storage cluster since late 2023, overseeing the maturation of large‑scale, open‑access CO₂ transport and storage solutions in the Danish North Sea. He currently serves as Asset Manager for the Bifrost Phase 1 CCS project, with responsibility spanning subsurface, infrastructure development, permitting coordination and strategic alignment.
He holds an engineering degree (1991) from the École Nationale Supérieure des Industries Chimiques (ENSIC) and a PhD in Chemical Engineering (1996) . He is a senior professional in the refining and chemical industry with more than twenty years of experience across research and development, process engineering, operations and organisational management.
David has been active in CCUS since 2013, initially focusing on CO₂ capture research and development. In 2016, he played a central role in establishing and structuring the Company’s CCUS corporate R&D programme, contributing to the maturation of capture technologies and early system integration concepts.
In 2021, he joined the Headquarters CCS Business Unit as Head of CCS Business Development, where he was responsible for market positioning, project origination and portfolio development. He subsequently served as Head of CCS Strategy, Markets and Advocacy in 2023, leading strategic engagement on CCS market structures, policy frameworks and cross‑value‑chain coordination at European level.
Across his career, David has combined deep technical expertise with strategic and business leadership, contributing to the positioning of CCS as a scalable and investable decarbonisation solution.
