Made up of 15 of the leading energy generating, industrial and logistics business in the region, the Humber Energy Board provides a unified strategic voice for the region’s energy industry, supporting investment, safeguarding skilled jobs and enabling the infrastructure needed for the UK’s energy transition. 

Humber plays a critical role in the UK’s energy system and industrial economy. The region generates around 20% of the UK’s electricity, produces around one third of the country’s refinery products, and handles roughly a fifth of the UK’s imported gas through infrastructure along the Humber Estuary. 

Alongside this industrial strength, Humber has one of the UK’s most significant opportunities to deliver new energy infrastructure and industrial decarbonisation.

 We’re ready to re-energise the Humber, and 2026 will be a defining year, where national decisions on hydrogen and carbon capture and storage will determine whether Humber moves from readiness into delivery.
