Neil Travers is N-Gen’s Head of Business Development, working with heavy industry and transport organisations seeking to replace carbon-intensive fuels with low-carbon hydrogen. He brings more than 20 years’ experience across the gas sector, combining practical operational know-how with leadership in major network programmes and safety-critical delivery.

After completing an engineering apprenticeship, Neil spent a decade in field operations before moving into the delivery of gas mains replacement, emergency repair and network operations. He later joined Northern Gas Networks’ Energy Futures team, where he assessed the compatibility of existing operational standards, policies and procedures for the transition to 100% hydrogen. Neil also led the world’s first conversion of an existing natural gas network to 100% hydrogen, followed by a programme to test gas distribution operations using hydrogen. Committed to collaboration across the sector, he chaired the joint network and industry Hydrogen Training, Standards, Policies & Procedures Working Group.
